Respiratory Exposure Tests in Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease

چکیده

Abstract Purpose of review Controlled oral provocation test with aspirin is considered the “gold standard” for diagnosing hypersensitivity to NSAIDs (non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs). Newer techniques respiratory exposure tests, bronchial and nasal respectively, have been nonetheless developed, as they are safer, less likely cause a systemic reaction, time-consuming than (acetyl-salicylic acid). These tests also particularly useful when challenge testing contraindicated. The aim this paper update detailed protocols challenges lysine-aspirin, salt acetyl-salicylic acid, more soluble irritative. Recent findings Current guidelines recommend standardized nasal, especially in patients suspected N-ERD (NSAID-exacerbated disease). Summary Nasal safe, not that sensible diagnosis N-ERD. So, cases high suspicion negative an should be performed before ruling out diagnosis. by trained personnel specialized allergy clinics. Further consensus on protocol interpretation still needed.

Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease

As guest editors of this special issue of the Journal of Allergy, we are pleased to be able to present a range of articles, both reviews and original research papers, on the important topic of aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD). AERD is a synonym for the " aspirin triad " of asthma, nasal polyposis and sensitivity to aspirin originally described by Widal ninety years ago. AERD patie...

Clinical and Immunological Efficacy of Aspirin Desensitization in Nasal Polyp Patients with Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease

This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and the underlining mechanism of aspirindesensitization among patients with Aspirin Exacerbated Respiratory Disease (AERD). Thirtyeightpatients, who had undergone an aspirin challenge test and were diagnosed as havingAERD, were engaged in a double-blind randomized clinical trial. They were divided into twogroups—an active group of patients who went t...

Genetic Mechanisms in Aspirin-Exacerbated Respiratory Disease

Aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease (AERD) refers to the development of bronchoconstriction in asthmatics following the exposure to aspirin or other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The key pathogenic mechanisms associated with AERD are the overproduction of cysteinyl leukotrienes (CysLTs) and increased CysLTR1 expression in the airway mucosa and decreased lipoxin and PGE2 synthesis. G...

Immunomodulatory treatments for aspirin exacerbated respiratory disease

BACKGROUND Aspirin triad is a subclass of chronic sinusitis characterized by nasal polyposis, nonallergic induced asthma, and aspirin sensitivity. Also known as Samter's triad or aspirin-exacerbated respiratory disease, aspirin triad commonly affects the adult population and is seldom found in pediatric patients. METHODS This rhinosinusitis has multiple layers of pathological process, but th...
